(The webinar is offered in French with simultaneous interpretation in English.)
This presentation is an account of a first experiment in teaching literary reading (ELLAC). It involves offering a choice of readings from three novels, all based on the same frame of reference determined by the teacher. By exploring this framework and adopting several reading approaches (descriptive, personal, analytical, and reflective), students deepen their understanding of key concepts.
The process is evaluated through the creation of a portfolio, which counteracts the use of generative AI. The portfolio contains artifacts such as a reader profile, a concept map, a reflective approach, etc.
This is a hands-on account of a practice that can be transferred to other areas of general education, humanities, and the arts. It promotes student engagement and motivation by restoring meaning to the teaching profession, which is concerned with educating well-rounded individuals who are nourished by their reading.
