Call for Contributions for the 2026 Thematic Issue
Legacy in Motion
The college network was born out of a spirit of transformation, a wind of revolution. Sixty years later, how much of this founding momentum remains?
For its annual thematic issue, Pédagogie collégiale invites the community to reflect on how yesterday’s knowledge and practices continue to inform an ever-evolving collective project. The issue is about motion—of ideas, actions, people, and educational institutions—and questioning what deserves to be reviewed, shifted, or reaffirmed in the amid current upheavals.
This dialogue between the past, present, and future paves the way for new approaches that are equal to today's challenges and the individuals called upon to meet them.

In an interview published in our pages1 a few years ago, the late sociologist Guy Rocher recalled that the "education system of the future" envisioned by the Parent Report was based on openness to all forms of culture—scientific, philosophical, social, professional and popular—in order to provide education adapted to all talents. An ambitious vision that remains relevant today.
But where do we stand today? How has the college network developed this initial ambition? And to what extent should this unfinished ideal continue to guide college education?
This call for contributions is open to all members of the network interested in these questions—students, teaching staff, research teams, pedagogical counsellors, managers, and professionals—and who wish to share their reflections, research, or pedagogical practices to turn this legacy into a lever for innovation.
Among the areas to explore (not exhaustive):
CEGEP as a driver of change. For 60 years, the college network has transformed individuals, families, communities, the relationship to knowledge, and society. How has this role been established or redefined over time? What areas merit further reflection?
Diverse pedagogical trajectories. The perspectives of experienced teachers and the next generation intersect. How do these paths shape pedagogical practices, the conception of the teacher’s role, and collective aspirations? This exchange paves the way for a dialogue where experience and renewal enrich each other.
An environment that fosters creativity and innovation. Since its inception, the college network has been an incubator for educational and social innovation. What about today? Does it still shine and shake things up as much as it could? What spaces allow the community to create, innovate, and invent? How can we rethink college education outside of conventional frameworks without betraying its educational mission?
Assessment in the service of learning. With the competency-based approach, the advent of digital technology, the web, and artificial intelligence, assessment is evolving to better support students. How can we adapt and take into account pedagogical and technological changes to improve assessment? How is what we do today to demonstrate learning more relevant, useful, or different compared to yesterday?
An informed reading of change. Social, cultural, economic, and technological upheavals are shifting the points of reference. How does the college network embrace these transformations and use them as inspiration to profoundly renew its practices, approaches, and missions?
The education of citizens in all their diversity. New cohorts, new faces, and migration patterns. How can we leverage these multiple trajectories while staying focused on the civic and inclusive mission of CEGEPs?
A central place for students. Their presence transforms and enriches teaching with creativity, energy, and fresh perspectives. How can we better value their role in pedagogical and college life? In the face of stress, anxiety, and dropout rates, what path should we follow to better support the student community? What have we missed over time? What did we fail to see coming?
