How can teachers establish connections between themselves and their learning community? Recent studies demonstrate the importance of a positive pedagogical relationship on motivation, engagement, and enjoyment of learning, as well as on the vitality and well-being of teaching staff.
So how can we strike a balance between the technological aspects of teaching and the human aspect of learning, while ensuring that the focus of the pedagogical approach remains on people? Why is the pedagogical relationship so fundamental to students' progress?
Whether in person or online, concrete strategies are proposed to equip teachers with the tools they need to establish and maintain a cooperative pedagogical relationship that promotes and supports learning and creates a stimulating classroom environment.
Strategies such as partnership, self-regulation, alternating communication, and accountability are described. Examples of inspiring practices that are well documented and validated by college research are shared to allow teachers to experiment with some of the ideas presented.
