A School for All Talents
Sociologist Guy Rocher, who served on the Commission royale d’enquête sur l’enseignement dans la province de Québec, takes stock of Quebec's progress in terms of access to higher education from the Parent to Demers reports. He broaches the topics of talent, openness, technical training and labor, the utopia of equality, persistence, creativity, institutional specificity, imagination, inter-college collaboration, distance learning, and language! In doing so, he takes measure of the strides towards academic inclusiveness in Quebec since the 1960s as well as the challenge still raised by facilitating access to education. Taking a large step back into the past provides the impetus for building a future that is not only better but fairer.
The Centre de documentation collégiale (CDC) offers an extensive collection of documents on college-level education and on education in general, produced by professionals in leading facilities and organizations.
