In this “opinion” text, the author provides a critical reflection on an article entitled “Has the time come for the CEEC (Commission d'évaluation de l'enseignement collegial) to do a self-evaluation?” which appeared in the 2009 fall issue of Pédagogie collégiale under the Libre opinion/Free opinion header. Using analogies based on financial principles, the author analyzes the question of self-evaluation and sheds light on the differences between universities and colleges in terms of evaluating the quality of teaching practices. According to Mr. Leduc, the development of the college network, which is governed by the MELS (Ministère de l'Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport), is marked by rigour and coherency for the good of the community it serves. The author adds that, notwithstanding the large amount of resources it requires, the accountability demanded by the CEEC does not divert establishments from their educational mission and promotes a concerted effort on their part.
