Interview by Fanny KINGSBURY, teacher at the Cégep de Sainte-Foy and chief editor of Pédagogie collégiale.
Interview with Isabelle-Rhéaume, teacher in the Logistics and transport techniques program at Cégep de Drummondville
At Cégep de Drummondville, the Logistics and transport techniques program teaches the different stages of the supply chain process, from storage to inventory management, including the transport of merchandise and people as well as the processes linked to customs controls. As a teacher in this program, Mrs. Rhéaume wanted to give her students a taste of their future professional life and help them integrate what they have learned. So, she set up a simulation project in collaboration with the Cirque du Soleil, in which students had to establish an action plan for transferring the touring Ovo show from Toronto to San Francisco, California. In this interview, she recalls how the project began, explains its unfolding, mentions its pedagogical repercussions and comments on her students’ reactions. She also emphasizes the possibility of realizing a similar project in a different context, while underlining that enterprises are generally open to creating stimulating learning contexts for students.
