This article introduces the concept of collective competency, along with indicators that make it possible to recognize it and an implementation strategy that promotes its rapid development. The author begins by distinguishing the different levels of competency in the various organizations, including the concept of individual competency and collective competency. Based on cooperation, collective competency involves the mobilization and combination of individual competencies, in a flexible manner, as a function of the experience acquired in the group. The author highlights two experiments, one with a group of teachers, the other with a group of educational advisors, designed to develop the collective competency of these groups. In doing so, he provides a concrete path for other professional groups concerned with improving their collective competency to follow by referring to existing competencies or by developing others.
