Qui seront les collégiens de l'an 2010 ?
The author presents an account of round table discussions where the participants painted a portrait of Generation Y students and identified foreseeable trends for "Generation Z", college students in the year 2010. Subjects included inter-order difficulties and educational methods. According to participants, students in the year 2010 will have continued to develop their metacognitive ability and will have experimented with educational methods that allow them to become the main actors in their educational process. They will have acquired more intellectual autonomy with professors assuming more the role of guides. In other words, they will have adopted non linear educational paths that lead to more heterogeneous groups, while maintaining the same preoccupations, notably the importance of pleasure and performance. The exercise also highlighted the importance of the formative evaluation as regards failure and educational difficulties as well as the importance of relationships with professors. Although they may differ in terms of know-how, college students of 2010 will remain fragile in terms of personal conduct, and meaningful relationships with professors will remain as important for their success as it is today.
