Pour une pédagogie qui tient compte de la réalité et de la culture des jeunes
Conducted among students from three CEGEPs located in different sociological settings and based on a theoretical model of social ecology, the research work " Étude comparée sur la réussite scolaire en milieu collégial selon une approche d'écologie sociale " (Roy, Mainguy, Gauthier et Giroux, 2005) explored the following dimensions and helped put them into perspective: individual student characteristics, the cégep as a living environment, social and family networks, personal well being of cégep students, their values and socio-economic situation. The article, illustrated by many tables, presents the results of this research and demonstrates the link between cégep student values and their scholastic achievements. It includes themes of success, materialism, culture and integration. It also presents the differences and similarities between the values of boys and girls. The article also demonstrates that values are important and undeniable indicators of a student's educational path: without taking these into consideration, interventions by professors risk leading nowhere.
