Collège Boréal is a well-established college in Ontario with seven campuses set up to meet the needs of a francophone population that spreads out over 85% of the province. This article deals with the efforts made by the college to support professional improvement, and more particularly with the Centre d’appui pour le personnel (CAP), whose pedagogical team of experts specialize in four areas: pedagogy, linguistics, technology and wellness. On a pedagogical level, CAP develops and offers training programs, workshops and individual consultations using a socio-constructivist approach. On a linguistic plane, emphasis is placed on the quality of French spoken by teachers, in particular through a monthly publication and workshops on various linguistic questions. The purpose of the technological section is to assist and support teachers; it also provides training workshops on various technological subjects. The wellness section offers teachers knowledge-integrating activities and strategies linked to mental and physical health. CAP also organizes Re-energizing symposiums with workshops and presentations designed to stimulate the environment and bring teachers from various campuses together to discuss questions of common concern and, in doing so, create communities for exchanging ideas.
